Cheaper than a taxi,
faster than a bus.

LinkRide finds you someone who’s already heading your way, so instead of paying full price for a taxi (or working around a bus timetable), you just split the real cost of the trip.

Both the Android and iOS builds are in testing right now. No spam, and you can unsubscribe whenever you like.

How LinkRide works

It’s just a trip someone’s already making, shared with people heading the same way.

01

Post or find a trip

Drivers post trips they're already making. Riders find one heading their way, or set up a recurring weekly commute.

02

Check who you're riding with

Every driver goes through a licence, insurance, and vehicle check before they can post a trip. You can also see their rating and reliability history before you join.

03

Split the cost, ride together

The cost is calculated transparently, then split across the seats filled. You can track the trip live and chat with the group in-app.

Pricing that reflects the road, not a flat rate

Most rideshare apps charge the same rate per mile no matter how far you’re going. LinkRide doesn’t — the rate drops the further you travel, and you see the full breakdown before you book.

Base cost

£2.00

A flat starting amount on every trip, before distance is added.

Short urban trips

0–5 miles

£0.55/mile

Traffic and stop-start driving cost more, and a short trip still needs a minimum cost to be worth the detour.

Local trips

5–20 miles

£0.35/mile

The most common commute distance, priced to stay well under what a taxi would charge.

Regional trips

20–100 miles

£0.22/mile

Longer, steadier driving costs the driver less per mile, so the saving passes to riders.

Long motorway trips

100+ miles

£0.16/mile

The lowest band, since motorway miles are the cheapest kind of driving there is.

These are the app's actual current rates. A real 147.5-mile trip comes to £35.21 total, and both the driver and every rider see the exact same breakdown you see here. See how we worked these out.

Built so every trip feels safe

Verification, live tracking, and a safety net are built into every trip. On top of that, a handful of everyday conveniences make it worth coming back to.

See who's driving

See their photo, vehicle, and rating before you get in, plus their track record of cancellations and no-shows.

Live tracking, one tap to help

Follow the trip on a live map from start to finish, and share trip details or trigger SOS, all from one screen.

Emergency contact

Add a trusted contact who's automatically looped in if you need them.

In-trip group chat

Sort out pickup points and delays with everyone on the trip, in one thread.

Community-restricted trips

Verify into your university or employer to see trips limited to people you already trust.

Waitlist for full trips

Join the waitlist on a full trip and you'll be added automatically the moment a seat opens up.

Repeat weekly trips

Set up a regular commute once and it repeats automatically. No need to repost it every week.

Notifications, your way

Get push alerts for trip updates and chat, plus a full history and your own notification preferences in the app.

Frequently asked questions

Is LinkRide a taxi or rideshare service?+

No — LinkRide is cost-sharing, not a for-profit rideshare. The driver's already making the trip, so you're just splitting the real cost with them, not paying a markup on top.

How is the cost worked out?+

It's banded by distance — short urban trips cost more per mile because of traffic and stop-start driving, while long motorway trips cost less. You'll see the full breakdown before you book.

Who can drive?+

Anyone with a full licence, valid insurance, and a vehicle that passes our check — all verified before their first trip goes live.

When does LinkRide launch?+

The app's built and already running on real devices. We're moving into closed beta testing first — small, invite-only groups — then expanding to bigger groups before a full public launch. Join the waitlist and we'll email you the moment it's live; tick the news and updates option to hear about each stage along the way.

Which platforms will it be on?+

Android and iOS are both being built and tested at the same time, so you won't be waiting on one for the other.

Running a university or workplace?

Coming soon for universities and employers: verified-only trips, your branding in the app, and a live dashboard tracking trips, miles, and CO2e saved.
