Cheaper than a taxi,
faster than a bus.

LinkRide finds you someone who’s already heading your way, so instead of paying full price for a taxi (or working around a bus timetable), you just split the real cost of the trip.

Android and iOS are both in testing, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. No spam, unsubscribe any time.

Features

Built for every part of the trip

Checked drivers, clear prices, navigation in the car, and a safety net on every journey.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

New

Directions and your trip on the car's own screen, not a phone in a cradle.

Turn-by-turn navigation

New

Voice guidance that talks over your music rather than stopping it, with live traffic and speed limits.

See who's driving

Their photo, a photo of the car, and the registration set out the way you'd read it at the kerb.

Checked with the DVLA

Vehicle details come straight from the DVLA, and tax and MOT are re-checked every day.

Pay once you've arrived

Your card is held, not charged. Payment is only taken once you've confirmed you arrived safely.

Safety, one tap away

Help, reporting and the trip's safety options sit at the top of every screen, plus a trusted contact who's looped in.

Know what to expect

Drivers say what a lift is like — conversation, music, pets, boot space — and it shows on their trips.

In-trip group chat

Pickup points and delays with everyone on the trip, in one thread. The fare updates as people join.

Lifts to events

New

Gigs, sport and student nights, each with its own lift-share group. Say you're going and the lifts are in one place.

Communities and groups

Verify into your university or employer, then join the teams and societies inside it with a code.

Payouts inside the app

Drivers set up bank details and ID without leaving LinkRide, and are paid automatically.

Waitlist for full trips

You're added automatically the moment a seat opens up.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Is LinkRide a taxi or rideshare service?+

No — LinkRide is cost-sharing, not a for-profit rideshare. The driver's already making the trip, so you're just splitting the real cost with them, not paying a markup on top.

How is the cost worked out?+

It's banded by distance — short urban trips cost more per mile because of traffic and stop-start driving, while long motorway trips cost less. You'll see the full breakdown before you book.

What's the booking fee?+

Passengers pay a booking fee of 49p plus 14% on top of their fare share. The driver keeps the fare in full. The fee is how LinkRide runs. Closed communities agree their own member rate with us when they join. You'll see the exact split before you confirm, and nothing is taken until you've arrived safely.

Who can drive?+

Anyone with a full licence, valid insurance, and a vehicle that passes our check — all verified before their first trip goes live.

When does LinkRide launch?+

The app is in testing on real devices now. Next is a closed beta — small, invite-only groups — then a wider public launch. Join the waitlist and we'll email you when it's your turn; tick the news and updates option to hear about each stage.

Which platforms will it be on?+

Android and iOS are both being built and tested at the same time, so you won't be waiting on one for the other. LinkRide also works with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so drivers get directions and their trip on the car's own screen.
